This project introduces ten Austrian Holocaust survivors living in New York. This transnational approach allows for a very personal, intimate journey into the life of Jewish contemporary witnesses. My idea was to process the individual life stories against the background of the idea of “home.” The subject “home” thus becomes a primary element. The title refers to the project’s focus on heimat as well as the English expression “at home.” The project features text, photo, audio and video material and furthers as much a direct encounter with the survivors as possible.
